Fun times bring balance to my life

In the midst of life's challenges, I make time to enjoy what is in front of me. Spending time doing fun things adds great balance to my life.

Spending time with friends is a great way to unwind. Although focusing on my responsibilities is important, I avoid neglecting social activities. Being around others with like minds allows for shared expressions and unforced interaction. It may not be possible to physically get together in these trying times, but virtual get-togethers can be just as comforting. Get creative. Have a virtual karaoke, scavenger hunt, maybe a virtual jam session, or book club.

I enjoy playing with my grandson. Whether that be coloring, reading, playing with his cars and trucks, or running around outside.  Being carefree takes my mind off the seriousness of life. He is so full of energy and zest for life, and it energizes me as well.

Taking some time out for self-care is also essential for a balanced life. I plan my "me time" once a week. I allow myself to watch a movie on Netflix or pamper myself with a mani-pedi, or simply stay in bed and read a good book.

Having fun allows me to sleep well at night. Doing enjoyable and exciting things makes me laugh and relaxes my mood. Writing in my journal and making gratitude lists really anchor these feelings. Reflecting on them helps me realize my blessings.

During a grueling week of work and studies, I commit to taking some time for myself. Each day is manageable because I make time for light reading. Escaping reality and jumping into a fictional story is enjoyable for me. It helps me unwind at the end of the day, so I read for about 45-60 minutes each night before bed.

Today, I commit to incorporating fun activities into each day. My life is enriched when I open myself up to various experiences. It is wonderful to be able to enjoy the lighter side of life because it adds balance to my existence.

Here are Some Self-Reflection Questions for you

1.     What are some fun activities that I enjoy?

2.     How do I balance solo entertainment with sharing fun times with friends?

3.     What are some of the triggers that tell me it is time to take a break and let loose?

Making time for fun times may take a little practice and, of course, planning. But like anything else, you just need to start. Youn can tweak it out as you go. But don't wait for the perfect plan, schedule or time, Just start now.
